From Spyderco's website:
Manufactured by Alleima® in Sweden, this ingot stainless steel is extremely pure and very popular among Japanese knifemakers, who often refer to it simply as “Swedish steel.” Widely considered both a predecessor to and a more affordable version of Takefu VG-10, it is also a very close equivalent to MBS-26, which is featured in Spyderco’s popular Kitchen Classics cooking knives.
