M398 is made by Böhler and its full name is M398 MICROCLEAN®. It is an advanced martensitic chromium steel manufactured through the powder metallurgy process. Its finely tuned alloy composition includes high volumes of carbon, chromium, and vanadium, which increase its primary carbide volume significantly over M390. The result is a steel that offers extremely high wear resistance and high corrosion resistance.
