Blade magazine is a monthly magazine and has for some time been the leading knife- publication in the US.

In their own words:

The history of BLADE®. Founded in 1973, BLADE® Magazine is the oldest knife publication. Originally called American Blade, the magazine debuted as a bimonthly published by Southern House Publishing Co., with Walter “Blackie” Collins becoming both editor and publisher. In 1974, Dr. Jack Marvich took over as publisher and was succeeded in 1975 by Beinfeld Publishing, Inc., owned by Wallace Beinfeld.

In 1981, Jim Parker and Bruce Voyles bought the magazine and in 1982 changed the name to BLADE. The same year they started Edges, a knife tabloid, the BLADE Show, and the Blade Magazine Knife-Of-The-Year® Awards. In 1983, the pair founded the Blade Magazine Cutlery Hall Of Fame©. Voyles bought Parker’s share of the magazine in 1986, at which time BLADE became the only national newsstand knife magazine. In 1989, Voyles started Blade Trade, the only publication serving the retail knife industry. In 1992, BLADE increased frequency to eight times a year.

In 1994, Voyles sold BLADE and all its attending properties to Krause Publications. In 1995 BLADE became the only monthly knife publication on national newsstands, and remains so to this day. In 1996, BLADE instituted the annual BLADEhandmade™ Awards, the only yearly honors recognizing knifemakers who excel at winning judging awards in selected categories at knife shows participating in the BLADEhandmade program. In 2002, F+W Publications bought Krause.

Today, BLADE remains the world’s No. 1 knife publication. It covers all areas of the knife industry, including handmade/custom, factory, tactical, outdoor, military, antique, collector, kitchen knives and more, knifemaking, knife collecting and other knife how-to’s, knife legislation/knife rights and much more. Among its most widely read departments are ABS master smith Wayne Goddard and ABS master smith Joe Szilaski’s “Question & Answer,” and ABS master smith Ed Fowler’s “Knife Talk.” Other regular departments include Judge Lowell Bray’s “Your Knife Rights”; retired 5th Special Forces Master Sgt.
