Steve Gartin was a salesman (or Road warrior) for Spyderco during the earlier period (1982 or -83-1988) after which he took over as the sales manager and worked as such until April 1990 when he resigned his position. [1] Steve Gartin is the one who came up with the idea for embellished Spyderco's as sold through Spyderco in the '80s and early '90s.[2]
