Plastic

Plastic is used for a handle material when the goal is cheap and in large quantity, as thermoplastics can be injection molded are are readily available at a low cost. Spyderco uses a high-impact plastic in their "plastic" handles, probably polystyrene (unless otherwise indicated, such as in the Z Cut kitchen knife line).
